Lesponix Collective

A modular climate-smart farming and value-addition package combining hydroponics, aquaponics, solar irrigation, and solar drying to enable year-round production, preservation, and sales for micro-enterprises.

Our Introduction

Agriculture & Transformation

Our philosophy birthed Lesponix Collective, which is a community-driven network of hydroponic and aquaponic farms in Lesotho that empowers youth, women, and local households to produce food sustainably while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our systems replace traditional soil-based farming, cutting fertilizer use, water consumption, and diesel-powered irrigation, thereby lowering over 437kg COโ‚‚e/year per farm.

What We Do Example

Hydroponic Farming Facilities

Hydroponic farming has the potential to turn around the food insecurity crisis even in most dense urban areas. It is for this reason that Lema is looking at innovative ways of re-inventing these advanced facilities to accommodate the young and vulnerable communities.

Hydroponic Free Rural Community Presentations

We a t Lema strongly believe that to successfully mitigate climate change impacts, we need to develop fully inclusive awareness campaigns to the young and vulnerable communities. It's through these campaigns that we hope to make our participants aware of alternative means to grow their fruits and vegetables.

Lesponix Collective - Women, Youth and People with Disability Project

The word โ€œLetsemaโ€ is of Sesotho origin, meaning people coming together to work for a common purpose. This sense of collective effort towards food security is our underlying philosophy, which birthed Lesponix Collective. With this project, we aim to build hydroponic backyard farms in every ordinary household in urban and rural areas in Africa.
